Champagne, France. It is composed with the hallmark Krug philosophy of blending complexity, depth and personalitythis edition built around the 2016 harvest as its base.
Blend: 58% Pinot Noir (including about 10% traditionally macerated red-wine Pinot Noir), 25% Chardonnay and 17% Pinot Meunier.
Composed from 32 individual wines across 6 different years, the youngest being 2016, the oldest 2010. Reserve wines make up about 38% of the blend.
Alcohol by volume: Approx. 12.5% (standard for premium Champagne).
Bottle size: 750 mL.
Serving recommendation: Serve chilled between ~9-12 C to allow the full bouquet to develop.
Appearance:
A subtle, elegant pale pink huesalmon-tinged, refined bubbles rising quietly, underscoring both finesse and stature.
Nose:
An aromatic impression of rose hips and peony, redcurrant, mulberry, pink grapefruit peel, and a hint of cured ham/salted nuance (a signature Krug ros character). Pepper spice and floral notes complete the picture.
Palate:
Generous and textured, yet with refinement. Flavours of crushed berries (raspberry, cherry), dried fruit, citrus zest (especially grapefruit/orange peel), honeyed nuance, and fine minerality. The red-wine (macerated Pinot Noir) element brings structure and spice; the white base wines bring elegance and freshness. The finish is long, with fine mousse, subtle bitterness of citrus peel, and a savoury mineral tail.
