Crafted from the iconic Graveyard Vineyard in the Hunter Valley, this single-vineyard Shiraz reflects Brokenwoods legacy of elegance and site expression. The 1996 vintage benefited from excellent growing conditions, producing structured and age-worthy wines.

Tasting Profile

Colour: Brick red with deep garnet core, showing graceful aging.

Nose: Aromas of black cherry, tobacco leaf, leather, and earthy spice mingle with notes of dried herbs and aged cedar.

Palate: Medium-bodied with softened tannins and complex layers of savoury spice, dark berries, and subtle oak. A touch of game and forest floor emerge, showcasing bottle-aged development.

Finish: Long, persistent, and well-resolved, carrying an elegant harmony of fruit, spice, and secondary nuances.

Cellaring

Now in mature phase, the 1996 Graveyard is drinking at peak for lovers of aged Hunter Shiraz. Best enjoyed with decanting.
