Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon is one of Australia’s great white wines and has the capacity to age superbly in the bottle. This release continues the recent immaculate line up of Vat 1s that show classic citrus floral and honey aromas. The palate is dry, yet full-flavoured with lovely crisp acidity. Still only a relative baby in terms of Vat 1s longevity, this bottle will reward you for decades to come.
Variety/Varieties:SemillonRegion: Hunter Valley, New South WalesVintage:2008
Critic tasting note: (2008 vintage) “Lime rind, lees, toasty cashew, asparagus and green apple aromas with a touch of matchstick and buttered quince. Fresh, delicate, creamy and dry, juicy palate with green apple, jalapeno, gooseberry, lime and nut flavours. A food oriented, greener style in this disastrous harvest for red wines in the Hunter. Fortunately the smillon was picked before the rains. This will need a few more years to hit its stride. (Anthony Gismondi and Stuart Tobe).” –Gismondi on Wine
