      Producer Information

Clos l’glise is an historical Bordeaux estate located in Pomerol on the right bank of the Dordogne River. The vineyard is planted largely to Merlot with some Cabernet Franc. The proportions of the grand vin varies based on the vintage, but is usually around 80:20 of the above pair. A second wine, labeled Esprit de lglise, is made with a similar ratio. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 100-percent new French oak; the grand vin goes on to spend 16-18 months in barrel. The wine estate is recorded in the 19th Century, though the farmhouse on the property dates back to the 18th. In its early years, it formed part of a larger estate with what is now Chteau Gombaude Guillot. At 14 hectares (35 acres), Clos l’glise was one of the larger vineyards in Pomerol. Contested rights of succession eventually led to its division into two estates.
