Age:23 MOS (American Oak)
Proof:103 proof
Agave:Tequilana Weber
NOM:Nom.1414
Cooking: Stone/Brick Ovens
Extraction: Roller Mill
Bottle Count: 150 bottles
Tasting Notes: This is an absolute treat – about asdesserty of a tequila as you can get while still carrying plenty of core agave flavor.
The nose opens with fresh herbs, soft florals, banana liqueur, and cane sugar sweetness, then moves into gentle oak notes with hints of cherry and fig.
On the palate, a beautiful mix of coconut, butter, and tropical fruit arrives first, quickly met by a bold blast of cinnamon and black pepper. Vanilla cream follows, adding a lush layer that both agave and whiskey drinkers will appreciate, accented by torched citrus peel, tobacco, dried cherry, and a sweet yet funky earthiness.
The finish is long and trailing, with a cascade of sugary, buttery, peppery dark cherry sweetness that lingers on.
About:Our production partners, the Vivanco family, are 5th generation tequileros who have been growing agave in Los Altos de Jalisco since 1929. Alma del Jaguar is crafted using traditional methods designed to highlight natural flavors of the agave plant and the terroir of the Los Altos (highlands) region. Alma del Jaguar is an assemblage or blend of two unique tequilas, one that is made using wild yeast and one that is made using Champagne yeast imported from France.
Protecting Jaguars: Alma del Jaguar was created to help protect wild jaguars in Mexico and the U.S. Jaguars are the largest big cat of the Western Hemisphere, ranging from Arizona to Argentina. Yet today, jaguars are endangered with over 50% of their natural range destroyed.
As a U.S.-based tequila company with production partners in Mexico, we feel compelled to dedicate our efforts to the jaguar populations closest to us and the distillery. Therefore, we donate directly to conservation organizations like the Northern Jaguar Project who manage theNorthern Jaguar Reservein Sonora, Mexico and help protect the northernmost population of wild jaguars in the world.
