Bollinger Ros is a distinctive non-vintage Champagne, crafted from 62% Pinot Noir, 24% Chardonnay, and 14% Meunier, with over 85% of grapes sourced from Grands and Premiers Crus. This ros demonstrates Bollingers mastery of blending and red-winemaking techniques, including the vinification of a small proportion (56%) of Pinot Noir as a red wine to add depth, structure, and a powerful element to the final cuve. The result is a salmon-hued Champagne with notable complexity, combining freshness, vivacity, and a velvety mousse.
Bollinger, based in A, Champagne, has a long tradition of producing rich, expressive champagnes with depth and ageing potential. Renowned for meticulous vineyard selection and expert blending, the house is committed to maintaining the signature style and elegance of its cuves.
Grapes are hand-picked and vinified with careful attention to detail. A portion of Pinot Noir is fermented as red wine before blending, adding structure and tannic depth. The cuve undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle and is aged on lees for an extended period, developing texture, aromatic complexity, and finesse.
The wine shows a bronze, salmon-pink colour. The nose reveals aromas of red currant, cherry, and wild strawberry with subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet elegant, offering structure, length, depth, and vivacity, with a tannic finish and lingering wild berry flavours. Sweet red fruits are complemented by gentle woody and vanilla hints, resulting in a multifaceted and complex Champagne.
Best served between 10 and 12C. Pairs beautifully with lobster, salmon, lightly spiced Asian dishes, and fruit-based desserts such as strawberry tarts, raspberries, or fruit soups. It is also perfect for refined afternoon tea occasions.
