Scheid Vineyards Metz Road Chardonnay is an elegant and expressive cool-climate wine from Monterey. Bursting with aromas of green apple, pear, citrus, and mango, complemented by subtle hints of toasted oak and lemon peel, it delivers a medium-bodied, lush palate with balanced acidity and a long, creamy vanilla finish.
Scheid Vineyards is dedicated to sustainable viticulture, producing wines that showcase the unique terroir of their Monterey estate. The 340-acre Riverview Vineyard benefits from cool winds, granitic soils, and diverse microclimates, ensuring each wine reflects its site with precision and complexity.
Grapes are hand-picked in the cool early morning hours for optimal freshness. Selected fruit is gently pressed, settled, and transferred to French oak barrels where fermentation is initiated by indigenous wild yeasts. The wine undergoes long, cool barrel fermentation and is kept on its lees with regular stirring to enhance aromatics, texture, and depth.
Aged for 12 months in 100% French oak barrels (47% new), the wine develops a harmonious balance between fruit intensity, oak influence, and creamy mouthfeel.
Bright straw-yellow in colour, the nose shows green apple, pear, citrus, and mango, with delicate oak and lemon peel notes. The medium-bodied palate is rich, round, and concentrated, with lively acidity and a lingering vanilla finish.
Pairs beautifully with roasted chicken, seafood, creamy pasta, grilled vegetables, and soft cheeses.
