Aromas reminiscent of cassis, mint and cocktail bitters are heady and boisterous. Unfortunately they’re overwhelmed by the mocha-like barrel influence. The palate finishes what the nose started. Gauzy, oaky tannins are chewy, distracting from the fruit and spice. The alcohol feels warm towards the finish. Christina Pickard
