This regarded anis was first made by George Guy in 1921, with the help of his father Armand and is made using the familys recipe for their Pontarlier absinthe, but without using the Absinthe plant. It is made by distilling green aniseed in hundred year old still.

The only green aperitif that is distilled entirely from anise seeds. The recipe for the Pontarlier Anis a L’ancienne was developed in 1921 in order to replace absinthe, after it was banned. Enjoy this aperitif diluted with chilled water in order to release its unmistakable aroma. Pontarlier Anis l’Ancienne received a gold medal at the Concours Gnral Agricole (CGA) 2017 in Paris.
Nose: Pungent star aniseed becomes more fennel with water.
Palate: This is extremely rich and very balanced in taste.
Finish: Rich and smooth.
