Meet the producer
Bacalha (formerly Aliana) is one of Portugals largest and most progressive producers, with 600 hectares across five regions, committed to high-quality, expressive wines.
Production
The estate at Vila Nova de Tazm, Gouveia county, is planted on poor granite soils. The wine is matured for 12 months in French (80%) and Russian (20%) oak barrels, allowing for integrated oak influence while preserving the fruits purity.
Tasting notes
Lifted aromas of wild black fruit complemented by subtle spice and smoky notes. The palate shows black cherry, mocha, and a firm structure, balanced by vibrant acidity, finishing fresh with herbal and savory black fruit complexity.
Food match
Perfect with robust winter stews and roast meats.
Grape
Touriga Nacional 85%, Tinta Roriz 15%
