Vertice 2021 is an elegant and complex blend of Carmnre and Syrah from Chiles renowned Colchagua Valley. Created at the highest point of the Roblera vineyard in the Apalta Valley, this wine combines the vision of winemaker Felipe Tosso and John Duval of Penfolds Grange fame. The vineyards unique terroir, with warm days and cool nights, delivers ripe black fruits, gentle spice, and subtle minerality, all framed by silky, refined tannins.
Ventisquero, meaning glacier in Spanish, pays homage to Chiles icy Patagonian mountains. Driven by innovation and passion, the winery creates wines that reflect the distinct climate and soils of Chile, producing expressive and terroir-driven reds and whites.
Grapes undergo low-temperature pre-fermentative maceration to maximise colour and aromas. Fermentation is carried out in small stainless steel and open tanks, with careful tannin management throughout. The wine is then aged for 22 months in 300-litre ultra-fine grain French oak barrels (40% new, 60% second and third use) and further bottle-aged for at least 14 months.
Deep, dark ruby in colour, the nose reveals black fruit, black pepper, and delicate spice, with underlying mineral notes. On the palate, the wine is rich, structured, and velvety, finishing long with harmonious tannins.
Perfect with spicy cuisines such as Indian, Thai, Mexican, and Spanish dishes, as well as semi-ripe cheeses or richly flavoured meats like wild boar and venison.
