They had a late frost that reduced yields by 40% and then had a cool summer resulting in earthy, oaky and a lighter style Cabernet – almost an old world style -not the Paso Robles, fruit-forward Cabs they are known for here. Half of the grapes come from a high, sunny west facing ridge and the other half from a low, shaded, north-facing block which ripened weeks later. The latter produces smaller clusters which add more intense flavors and tannins to the final blend. The nose demonstrates dark berry fruit tones and earthiness.

Nose:Black plum and baked red cherry

Pallet: The palate starts with sour cherry, then dives into richer kirsch, tobacco, leather and coffee flavors, followed byexotic Middle Eastern spices on the nose of this bottling.

Finish: Finishing on a dry, sanguine note.This wine will keep well for another 5 years but we do recommend decanting this prior to serving.
